Electric Energy

Ultimate phenomenon of electricity

Electric energy more commonly referred as electricity, the origin of the word comes from the Greek word 'elektron' which means amber and from the Latin word 'electrius' which means amber like. There are numerous phenomena associated with electricity formed by the flow of charges. It includes lightning, static electricity and other phenomena like electromagnetic induction, electric potential, electromagnetic flux etc

Like all other energies the law of conservation of energy is applicable to electrical energy that is "energy can neither be created nor be destroyed but could be transformed from one form to another"

History of electricity

From where did the life history of electricity begins? It starts from the origin of universe but the present concept of production, control, distribution and what ever so far we reached from electricity begins from a simple experiment made by a scientist named Benjamin Franklin. The experiment was so simple that he flew a kite with a conductor attached to it on a rainy day and he got struck with a lightning and the era of electricity began. Though he made the lightning discovery Michael Faraday is considered as the father of modern electric world for his contributions.

Concepts

Electric Charge -  It is nothing but the charge acquired by a body due to the interraction of the charge particles inside an atom namely electron and proton, as a whole an atom is neutral since the charge of electron and protons cancels each other, but when the substance losses one electron it acquires a positive charge and when it gain an electron it acquires a negative charge. Similarly in the case of proton but the charge differs.

Electric Current - Electric current is the flow or current of electrons. It is usually measured in amperes.

Electric Field - The space around a charged particle where it has its influence on other charged particles .

Electric Potential - It is explained as the work done to move a unit positive charge from infinity to a point, referred    as the potential at that point

Electromagnetism - Phenomenon caused due to the flow of  electric charges, when electricity passes through a conductor it gets some magnetic characteristics this phenomenon is termed as electromagnetism
