4.1 Introduction Installation of generators involves coupling of rotating machines and hence requires high degree ofengineering skill and competence, both mechanical and electrical. In order to ensure long and satisfactory life, it is necessary that the machine foundations have adequate strength, there is perfect alignment between the prime mover and the alternator and that the vibration of the machines are within permissible limits.
